It’s important for visitors to Universal Orlando Resort to know which rides and attractions are closed for refurbishment or other reasons to avoid disappointment. It can be difficult to stay on top of the ever-changing schedule, so we’re compiling an up-to-date list of refurbishments planned for August and beyond at Universal Orlando Resort.
This month, we saw the continued closure of Pteranodon Flyers, following its unexpected closure in mid-April. We also prepared for the extended closure of Fast & Furious Superchargers starting August 19th. Universal also announced a series of annual refurbishment closures in early 2025.
We will list renovation and closure dates where possible, but these dates are subject to change. We will keep you informed of any changes in our newsletter and on our Facebook page.
1. Fast & Furious Supercharged (Universal Studios Florida)
status: Confirmed
date: August 19 – November 3
The Universal Orlando Resort calendar shows that “Fast & Furious: Supercharged” at Universal Studios Florida will be closed for an extended period from August 19 to November 3. It is believed that this is to allow the queue area to be used as a house for Halloween Horror Nights 33.
2. Pteranodon Flying Machine (Universal Islands of Adventure)
status: Confirmed
date: Now – TBD
Pteranodon Flyers at Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure has been out of service since mid-April when it was forced to unexpectedly close due to a malfunction.
Universal Studios appears to be waiting on parts for this attraction, and as of now, there doesn’t seem to be an estimate for when the Wings of the Dragon will reopen. We’ll keep you updated on this development.
3. Hogwarts Express (Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure)

date: November 4-7, 2024
It has been confirmed that the Hogwarts Express will be temporarily closed from 4 to 7 November 2024.
4. Men in Black: Alien Attack (Universal Studios Florida)
status: Confirmed
date: November 4 – December 10
Currently, the Universal Orlando Resort’s refurbishment schedule shows that Men in Black: Alien Assault will be closed from November 4th to December 10th.
5. Me-Ship, Olive (Universal Studios Islands of Adventure)
status: Confirmed
date: October 21 – December 4, 2024
Universal Studios has now announced that “Me-Ship, The Olive” at Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure will be closed for an extended period from October 21st to December 4th.
