Cunard celebrates naming of Queen Anne in style – Chris Cruises

Cunard Line christened its newest ship, Queen Anne, in Liverpool, the company’s spiritual home and birthplace. The spectacular event attracted thousands of spectators and featured performances by renowned artists including Andrea Bocelli and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The ceremony was a major milestone in Cunard’s 184-year history and commemorated the company’s deep connection with Liverpool, where the company’s first transatlantic voyage departed in 1840.

The naming ceremony for HMS Liverpool Queen Anne kicked off with a unique performance by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by the city of Liverpool being named as the ship’s godfather.

Five “Liverpool icons” (excluding The Beatles), who represent the heart and future of the city for their cultural contribution, were chosen for the awards ceremony, which ended with the traditional smashing of champagne bottles and an unforgettable performance by Andrea Bocelli. Cunard Line President Katie McAllister thanked these icons and the people of Liverpool for their warm welcome and participation in this historic event.
