JetBlue announces expansion of Caribbean routes via Puerto Rico

JetBlue is expanding its footprint in the Caribbean with new routes, new services and new destinations. This Caribbean expansion will significantly enhance the airline’s network, increasing connectivity and providing more options for passengers.

JetBlue is Puerto Rico’s largest airline and these new initiatives will make the island a more prominent feature in the Caribbean tourism industry. JetBlue President Marty St. George is excited about the expansion and sees it as a way to strengthen their relationship with Puerto Rico. This sentiment is shared by Puerto Rico Governor Pedro R. Pierluci, who said the island is pleased to welcome JetBlue’s expansion and that it will support their efforts to boost Puerto Rico’s tourism industry.

New routes from San Juan

JetBlue, Puerto Rico’s largest airline, recently announced new routes from San Juan. Starting in October 2024, there will be flights between San Juan and the following cities:

  • Providence, Rhode Island (PVD): 1 flight per day
  • Westchester County, New York (HPN): 1 flight per day
  • Santiago, Dominican Republic (STI): 1 flight per day
  • Medellin, Colombia (MDE): 4 flights per day
  • Cancun, Mexico (CUN): 3 flights per day

Beginning in December 2024, there will be a daily flight between San Juan and St. Croix (STX) in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In addition to these new initiatives, the airline will also launch its luxurious Mint service on its daily flights from San Juan to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Caribbean expansion plans add three new Caribbean destinations

JetBlue will begin flights to the region from New York’s JFK in the fall of 2024. One of the new JFK routes will be service to Argyle International Airport (SVD) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Flights will also be launched from JFK to Flamingo International Airport (BON) in Bonaire. This is a significant development as JetBlue will be the only airline to offer nonstop flights from JFK to this destination.

Additionally, the airline will resume daily flights from San Juan to Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) on St. Croix. The service will begin in December 2024 and will become daily service between the islands.
