If you’re planning a summer cruise to the Caribbean, Royal Caribbean has another new option for you: the ambitious Utopia of the Seas, which will be launching in Port Canaveral in July.
The giant new ship officially joins the Royal Caribbean Cruises fleet at a French shipyard, and in a little over a month she will begin sailing in the Caribbean from the east coast of Florida.
So, what do you need to know about the latest Oasis-class ships?
The biggest attraction is the length of the trips. Royal Cruise Line says the ship is designed with short trips in mind: three- or four-night cruises, all of which stop at private destinations in the Bahamas.
So what is included?
There are five pools, a FlowRider, a ten-story zip line, a 259-foot-long water slide, and even a new food “station” that allows passengers to experience a “train”-style food adventure.
Royal Caribbean has also added some new amenities, such as a Caribbean Tiki Bar and a Japanese Street Food Shop.
So how much does a Royal Caribbean Utopia cruise cost?
A sample cruise itinerary departing July 29 from Port Canaveral starts at $932 per person, which, with taxes and port fees, comes to about $102.43.
The July 22 cruise is slightly more expensive, starting at $1,182, according to the company’s website.
