The 6 best hotels in Bogota

Most travelers only visit Bogota. This is not a highlight Colombia and is usually overlooked by most travelers.

I think this was a mistake.

I actually enjoyed my time in Bogota. The city has never experienced so much Roughening Like any other city in the country, this is where I feel most Colombian. I even stayed longer than I planned because I loved it so much!

However, where you stay in the city (and the hotel you stay in) will greatly affect your trip. Not all urban areas are safe, and not all hotels are equally safe.

To help you make the most of your trip, here is my list of the best hotels in Bogota:

1. Magdalena Hotel

This affordable hostel is located in La Candelaria, the city’s historic centre. It is a very cosy place with a small garden area and inner courtyard, a comfortable lounge, a resident cat and welcoming hosts who will do everything they can to make you feel at home in Bogota. There is also a kitchen for guests to use.

The room was simply furnished and minimally decorated but comfortable with parquet floors and unique art on the walls. The bathroom was the highlight of the room. I loved the colorful tile floor and walk-in shower. The water was always hot and the water pressure was good (not always the case in this neighborhood). There were free toiletries and the bed was really comfortable. All of Bogota’s main attractions are within walking distance so stay here if you want to spend a lot of time sightseeing.

2. HAB Hotel Bogota

This chic 4-star hotel is located on a quiet residential street in trendy Chapinero and offers luxury amenities at a mid-range price. I love that it’s located in a grand historic mansion. The whole place is very stylish, with an outdoor terrace full of plants, a rooftop terrace, and a 24-hour fitness center. It even has its own farm-to-table restaurant/bar that serves delicious breakfast in the morning and delicious cocktails in the evening.

The spacious rooms have hardwood floors and large windows that let in lots of light (although I appreciated the blackout curtains you can put up when you want to block out the sun). All rooms have high-quality mattresses, desks, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and safes. The stylish bathrooms have beautiful black tiles and free luxury toiletries. It’s an oasis of calm in one of the city’s coolest neighborhoods.

3. Casalegado

The 5-star Casa Legado is a beautifully designed mid-20th-century hotel in Quinta Camacho. Each of the 13 rooms is unique; some have balconies and some have garden views. All rooms have a fun and playful feel with brightly coloured wallpapers, leafy plants, hardwood floors, fireplaces and beautifully tiled bathrooms with large walk-in showers. The bright and spacious rooms also feature a desk, a flat-screen TV with streaming services and a safe.

I especially like all the perks here. There’s free breakfast, bicycles for guests to use, a peaceful inner courtyard, and a tour desk to help you plan activities. If you’re a foodie looking for luxury, I recommend staying here as this neighborhood has the highest concentration of fine restaurants in the city. It’s also one of the safest areas.

4. T Hotel Avani Royale Bogota

This 4-star hotel is located in the heart of Zona Rosa (also known as Zona T), which is the city’s main shopping and entertainment district. It’s a stylish, modern hotel with spacious rooms with a minimalist design. The beds were large and comfortable, and the rooms also had a minibar, mini fridge, flat-screen TV, coffee/tea maker, and desk. The rooms are also well soundproofed, which is a plus since you’re staying in a popular area known for its nightlife. The bathrooms were small, but had good water pressure and provided free toiletries.

The hotel also features a fitness center, a mouth-watering breakfast buffet with fresh fruits, breads, meats and oatmeal, and an attentive staff to ensure your stay is comfortable. The hotel is also pet-friendly and has free parking. You really can’t beat the amenities and location.

5. 5 Elementos Apartasuites Hotel

This 3-star hotel is a mix of the best of both worlds, with all rooms being fully furnished apartments with their own kitchens. While I thought the decor was a little dated, there were gorgeous hardwood floors throughout, and the rooms also had seating areas, desks, flat-screen TVs, coffee makers, and even laptop safes. The bathrooms weren’t huge, but the showers were a good size with colorful tiles (and good water pressure).

The free breakfast was great and I especially liked their eggs cooked to order. There is also an onsite fitness center, business center, and a relaxing outdoor garden. The location is not particularly central, but it is convenient to downtown and the airport. Overall, this is a good choice for families or groups who want more space.

6. Grand Hyatt Bogota

If you really want to splurge (or Maybe you have some Hyatt points to use), it doesn’t get more luxurious than this five-star hotel. The Grand Hyatt has the largest urban spa in Latin America, with a stunning indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, treatment rooms and a fitness center with personal trainers. The hotel also has two restaurants, a cocktail bar and a takeaway market. The hotel also serves a hearty breakfast every morning.

The rooms and suites are bright and airy with floor-to-ceiling windows. I loved that every room had a stunning view, overlooking either the Andes Mountains or the city itself. The rooms have a modern, minimalist design and come with a desk, Nespresso machine, mini fridge, 50-inch flat-screen TV, and safe. The bathrooms are large, with double sinks, marble tubs, and showers with great water pressure. The only downside to this hotel is that it’s a bit far from the historic center (it’s in the commercial district, about a 20-minute Uber ride away). But if you want luxury, this is the hotel for you.

Bogota It is one of my favorite cities in Colombia. It is well worth taking the time to explore. By staying at one of the above hotels, you will ensure a fun, safe and affordable stay in Colombia’s vibrant capital.
