As a travel consultant specializing in family vacations, I put together a list of the most popular destinations for my clients this year.

Family Cruises

Cruising has never been more appealing to families! The cruise industry continues to target the family market with newer, larger, and more innovative ships. From water coasters to ice skating rinks, infinity pools, interactive family game shows, and Broadway-style entertainment, there’s no shortage of family activities on these ships.

Alaska Cruises

Since the Alaska cruise season is limited to the summer, demand often exceeds supply; therefore, it is imperative to book your Alaska cruise early.

Not only are tickets for Alaska cruises selling out quickly, but many popular port excursions are also fully booked.

Cruise lines are aware of this high demand, so they have already opened up bookings for 2025 Alaska cruises.

Caribbean Cruises

Caribbean cruises remain in high demand, with more and more families finding cruising to be their preferred method of travel.

This is the perfect type of vacation when you need to cater to multiple generations of family members and family members with different interests.

Even if your family isn’t interested in water activities, there are a variety of other activities on board such as game shows, arts and crafts, dancing and food/drink tastings.

Additionally, there are a number of port excursions available, giving visitors an insight into the island’s culture and history, as well as providing opportunities for independent exploration.

Europe and Mediterranean Cruises

Many families I have come into contact with have found that in Europe and Mediterranean Regions are one of the most convenient and hassle-free ways to efficiently visit multiple destinations.

These itineraries allow families to experience different international cities to determine which areas they would like to visit again in the future.

The advantages of not having to pack your bags at different hotels and waking up in a new city every day make a European cruise very attractive for families.

European River Cruises

When families don’t fancy a big ocean cruise, many consider a more leisurely Family-friendly river cruises.

These small vessels sail through beautiful countryside, offering stunning views of European landscapes and medieval castles.

River cruises take travelers to quaint towns and villages where families can easily disembark and explore on their own. In addition, most river cruise itineraries offer optional day trips included in the cruise fare.

These ships have also stopped at popular European cities such as Amsterdam. Paris, BudapestPorto and Vienna.

Tropical Beach Resort

For families seeking a tropical vacation, many flock to the beautiful beaches. Turks and Caicos IslandsAruba, Cancun, Punta Cana, Jamaica and HawaiiSome of these destinations offer all-inclusive facilities and activities, such as kids/teen clubs, water parks, boat excursions, water sports and nightly entertainment.

The all-inclusive vacation industry has grown rapidly over the years, and it can be difficult for parents to determine which family resort is right for them.

Even if you narrow your choices to a specific island, the resorts may be very different from the one next door.

When I work with families, I help them understand which resort attributes and amenities are most important to them so I can recommend a place they will enjoy. For example, one resort may have a great water park but a small beach with lots of rocks and seaweed. Another resort may offer a ton of on-site activities but cost extra to use those amenities. These are just a few examples I write about in my blog, “Top 10 Questions to Ask When Choosing an All-Inclusive Family Resort.
