Harris needs to hold onto voters who are unhappy with Biden’s hard-line pro-Israel policies on Gaza and the West Bank. Shapiro, who chooses to support Netanyahu and his genocidal actions, is bound to lose all those undeclared voters. And in Minnesota, undeclared delegates received 19% of the vote, the highest in the country. The battleground state of North Carolina came in second with 12.7%.
Waltz was fairly nice to the protesters. He made it clear that they had a right to protest, especially given the atrocities being committed against the Palestinian people. In contrast, Shapiro almost completely embraced Netanyahu. In fact, figuratively speaking, he did embrace Netanyahu.
So the protests against genocide on campuses and in the streets across the country have had an impact. I am proud to be one of those voters who only voted for an uncommitted representative from Maryland. That is not to say I will vote for Harris. But I do want her to win!
